You must be on your last lap by 7:50pm which is Sunset and have a headlamp.  You must be off the course by 8:30 which is end of Civil Twilight.  This is very thick woods with natural habitat.

All Open and Relay runners will have an age graded handicap.  Handicaps are calculated based on a national age graded system for runners.

BEER DEDUCTION: 2:00 per beer per lap with a maximum of 4 beers.  You must drink the beer prior to your 5K leg.  TIME IS ROLLING, which means the clock does not stop while you are drinking beer.  You do not have to drink beer, however you do not get any deductions.  Under 21 or non-drinkers have the option to drink Chocolate Milk for the 2:00 time deduction

All relay teams will have a team baton that will have your chip inside it.  You must pass on your baton every lap.  You will also receive an individual number bib.

There are 4 award categories.  The top team in each category will receive Machetes.

OVERALL CHAMPION - Beer deduction + Handicap
OVERALL FASTEST TEAM - Beer deduction still applies
OVERALL CORPORATE CHARITY TEAM - must be a corporate charity partner
OVERALL BEER CLUB - Must be associated with a brewery or bottle shop

The top 5 overall runners will receive Machetes.  This includes the beer + age and gender handicap.

Each team and individual will have a team bag with their team number on it.  When you finish your beer, you will show the beer judge and then put your cup in your team bag.  After you or your team have completed the race, turn your bag into one of the judges and they will give you an index card with your team name and number of cups.  That card goes to the timing booth for scoring.  Please discard your bag in the trash when finished.

The course is a very natural wooded terrain surrounded by swamp.  Footing is variable.  Runners will run a loop and then an out and back.  You should expect bugs during the race.  We have sprayed and fogged the field but not the course itself.  The race is called Copperhead due to running in the woods in August.  There is a chance that you could see a snake or other wild-life.  If you do, please stay away from it and alert us, we will have people out on course that can take care of them if they won't move.  99% of the time, they will be more afraid of you and stay completely away from the course.  There is also a walking bridge that you will have to cross.  Take caution and go slow.

There is a chance of rain.  We will run the race rain or shine.  If there is lighting prior to the race, we will delay the race start.  If there is lighting during the race we will pause the race, let any runners finish their leg and then restart the race when the storm passes. Please bring your own tents and extra towels for yourself just in case.
